Ruth Pitman
Owner & Manager
The owner and manager of Park Wood since 2016, Ruth is a Rural Chartered Surveyor. Purchasing Park Wood with the aim of building a top class TB boarding facility, the Stud now has 16/18 boarding broodmares and up to 45 horses at any one time. Ruth has two sons, Alex & Chris, and a daughter, Ella, all three of whom give time to helping with different aspects of the stud.
Hannilore Gossage
Stud Manager
Hanni brings over 30 years’ experience and knowledge of the horse breeding industry to Park Wood Stud. Born and educated in Germany, Hanni speaks both English and German fluently. Starting as a Stud Hand at Fawley Stud, she graduated to Yearling Yard Manager prepping for Tattersall auctions at Kirtlington Stud and then Yard Manager of the Arabian Broodmares at Shadwell, responsible for 15 broodmares and followers. She managed Athbah Stud for 3 years with 30 horses under her care until the Stud moved to France. After a spell as Head Person with Brian O’Rourke, involved with pre training and rehabilitation, she returned to stud work as Assistant Manager at Coln Valley Stud for 3 years. Here she looked after a band of beautifully bred mares and followers by Galileo, Frankel and Kingman, until the owners decided to retire.
Daniel Marsden
Asssistant Stud Manager
Daniel comes from a horse racing family and has spent his entire life working with thoroughbreds in Newmarket. Formally Stud Manager at Rosyground Stud, responsible for foaling up to 35 mares a season, he was also Assistant Manager at Aislabie Stud. In both positions he acquired a reputation for excelling in Sales preparation. Prior to that he taught students at The National Stud and was a Theatre Assistant at Rossdales. He estimates he has brought over 400 foals safely into the world. Daniel rides and both shows and judges horses in his spare time.
Graham Pitts
Stud Maintenance
Installing the bore hole water supply system to the stud, building his own workshop and putting the roof on our Claydon Horse Walker, are just some of the many projects Graham has completed during the 7 years he has worked here.
Chris Shepard
Veterinary Consultant
Chris is a Director of the B&W Equine Clinic based at Willseley and heads up the Stud and Reproductive Centre based there. He has a particular interest in stallion and mare infertility issues. Chris can be on site with us within six minutes.
Clive Evans
Farrier
Clive is an outstanding and hugely experienced farrier who knows precisely how to shape a horses’s foot to help correct conformation issues. He has been the farrier to Park Wood Stud for over 20 years.
Beth Woodland
Bookkeeping & Accounts
Beth works for Kelly Farm Consulting and makes regular visits to the farm. She is responsible for all billing, wages, VAT returns and all financial records.
